New Liberia Terminal Gets Set to Receive Record Breaking Tourist Arrivals

In the first semester of 2011, Liberia International Airport registered a 27% increase in Costa Rica tourism arrivals compared to the same period of time in 2010. A total of 100,864 tourists have touched down at the Guanacaste Airport in the first six months of the year.

According to an article published in La Nación on Saturday, August 20^th, the New Liberia International Airport arrivals terminal will have the capacity to simultaneously attend to 1500 passengers. The old terminal had a limited capacity of 900 passengers. The new terminal will also have four passenger boarding bridges. Three strategic drop-off points will include ramp stairs for passengers to disembark.

 

Modern Beach-Themed Liberia International Airport Terminal

The modern and spacious terminal with a beach concept includes airline customer service posts, stores and restaurants, including Café Britt and Café Players, an American Sports Bar. Car rental as well as currency exchange. The Liberian Chamber of Tourism (Camara Liberiana de Turismo) and the Guanacaste Chamber of Tourism (Camara de Turismo de Guanacaste) will also have offices at the airport.

Liberia International Airport has also expanded its car parking facilities with four car parks with a total capacity for 430 vehicles.

 

New Airlines Also Welcomed at Liberia International Airport

There are now a total of 14 airlines that include Liberia International Airport in their itinerary, including two new additions, Air Berlin and JetBlue.  A total of 12 international flights and six domestic flights land in Guanacaste everyday.
