A Paradise Wedding in Costa Rica Fit for a Princess: Getting Married in Manuel Antonio
If you are looking for your own wedding to rival that of the royals, why not get married in the beautifully secluded wedding destination of Manuel Antonio Costa Rica? If you’re lucky enough to have found your very own Prince William, now its time to find that paradise location fit for a princess! From the location, the ocean view wedding ceremony and guest accommodations to the brilliant tropical flowers, ambient decor and gourmet chef, newlywed Kathi Chandler-Payatt explains how your dream wedding in Costa Rica can become a reality.
With its tropical landscape of rolling green foothills and winding white sandy stretches of pristine beach, Manuel Antonio Costa Rica is one of the most exclusive vacation destinations in the world, a fitting location for a tropical wedding and honeymoon in heaven – the most memorable romantic getaway of a lifetime.
For many budding brides the thought of getting married in a tropical beach and sun paradise is nothing more than a distant dream. Concerns about finding the perfect wedding venue, organizing the ceremony, choosing flowers and booking accommodations for family soon begin to mount up – leading you to make the conclusion that getting married abroad is nothing less than mission impossible.
Kathi Chandler-Payatt got married to her husband, Jeffrey in Manuel Antonio in early September 2010. Kathi’s own experiences demonstrate how a paradise wedding in Costa Rica really is possible. Every year more and more couples escape to warmer climes to get married, and Kathi explains why Costa Rica really is the ultimate wedding destination.
For many couples, deciding on the best location for a destination wedding is half the challenge. Although Kathi has had little travel experience, Jeffrey enjoys an exciting career, touring with rock bands around the world. The couple wanted to get married in a tropical setting that neither of them had previously visited, “This really narrowed down our options, we looked at Panama, Mexico and Costa Rica. Whenever Costa Rica was brought up the enthusiasm was overwhelming and this is what won us over,” explains Kathi.
Once Kathi and Jeffery decided to have their destination wedding in Costa Rica, Kathi began with online research but soon found that her stylist had the contact she was looking for. “Thanks to Erin Little we found Casa Fantastica in Manuel Antonio and she created a way for our intimate wedding to take place at the ocean view villa, as well as accommodate our budget.”
As destination weddings in Costa Rica gain in popularity, more and more couples seek to escape to warmer climates and are able to enjoy both the wedding ceremony with friends and a dream honeymoon at a fraction of the price they would pay back home. “We looked hard at costs, like any engaged couple, and for the price of a one-day wedding in Los Angeles, we could spend a week in Manuel Antonio with a private chef in an ocean view villa with cocktails and monkeys. It was an easy yes,” explains the bride, Kathi.
Passionate about architectural homes, Kathi and Jeffrey decided to have their destination wedding at Casa Fantastica, which features stunning panoramic views of Playa Manuel Antonio. With its fusion of modern design and tropical landscape, it was the perfect Costa Rica wedding location for the bride and groom. This beautiful ocean view villa was large enough to accommodate an intimate wedding party of twelve and came with a fully qualified gourmet chef. Kathi enthuses, “Who doesn’t want to say they got married at a place called Casa Fantastica!”
With the location, catering and accommodations organized it was time to look at the main event, the wedding ceremony. Kathi explains, “We had a very intimate ceremony with only the people closest to us, our families and one set of close friends each. 12 guests total. I would say that as soon we made our minds up about what we wanted it was very simple to pull the wedding together.”
Erin Little at Oasis Weddings, located in Manuel Antonio Costa Rica, was in charge of the wedding coordination, transforming the main level of Casa Fantastica into a glamorous tropical setting with custom made decorations. Kathi makes an important cultural observation, “I think it’s important to keep in mind when planning that Tico time and US time are very different things. There isn’t the same urgency to get an answer quickly, so patience comes in handy.”
For Kathi, her destination wedding and honeymoon in Manuel Antonio Costa Rica was filled with happy memories. “Jeff’s face when he first saw me, the band that everyone wished played all night, the beautiful wedding ceremony and somehow…. the sunset matched my coral wedding dress!”
So if you are looking for the ultimate paradise wedding destination, choose Costa Rica. Kathi highly recommends it, “Pura Vida! No doubt! It’s beautiful; there are plenty of activities and with a manageable flight from CA, the destination wedding feels even more like a big event.”
