Make Playa Bejuco your next Costa Rica surfing destination to avoid the crowds and be the sole owner of some quality waves. Located just 30 minutes south of Jaco and 40 minutes north of Quepos and Manuel Antonio, this Central Pacific beach is also easy to get to.

Playa Bejuco is one of the few surfing hotspots that has managed to stay largely undetected in Costa Rica. There are no large hotels located at this off the radar beach, which has in many ways proved beneficial to its preservation.

Proud owner of the Blue Flag Award, it is a beautifully clean beach in Costa Rica, lined with tropical greenery and boasting some of the most powerful waves in the country. Punctuated by two rock points – Bustamonte Rock and Bejuco Point – and a winding estuary with mangroves, excellent surfing conditions guarantee this a real surfing mecca.

Though you can catch some solid waves throughout the year, the best waves can be experienced during high tide and can reach up to sixteen feet.  If you are novice surfer in Costa Rica it’s best to steer clear of Playa Bejuco, with its long stretches of shore break peaks these waves are especially reserved for the professional wave riders.

Playa Bejuco is home to a small fishing town that and a small restaurant where you can get watered and fed. If you want a switch from surfing, other tours are available including boat excursions and horseback rides along the beach. Playa Bejuco is a wonderfully secluded beach that offers surf lovers excellent surfing conditions surrounded by some of the most scenic landscapes of beautiful Costa Rica.
